Master James Hull began his martial arts training over 20 years ago. Today he trains under the watchful eye of the legendary Grandmaster, Jae Chul Shin in Philadelphia, PA.

On December 1,1997, Master Hull saw his years of dedication, training and sacrifice pay off by receiving the rank of Master, 4 Dan, in Tang Soo Do. In October 2005 he was recognized as a 5th Dan Master by Grandmaster at a ceremony in the Poconos, Pennsylvania.

Master Hull's areas of expertise include self defense, weapons, joint manipulation and breaking to name a few. He has been an instructor at black belt camps since 1992, guest instructor for various seminars, a judge at numerous tournaments including several world and regional events as well as top competitors in forms, weapons and sparring at local, regional and world competitions. He opened Northern Star in 1985.
